I have a project where the data I need to use is hosted on a excel spreadsheet that is shared to us online, I need to find a way to connect to the excel data online and keep that connection active.

Open the spreadsheet in the Excel desktop app, go to the Info section and Copy Path.

In Power BI choose Get Data and select Web. Paste the copied URL in and delete the ?web=1. From there its just like you were connected to a local Excel file.
