How to calculate month totals instead YTD

Currently data is showing YTD totals but I only want it show the latest month data everytime we update it monthly 

 Is there a way to show march latest data of 27M as opposed to YTD total? This dashboard is updated a monthly basis so we need to see month totals as opposed to YTD. 

I did try using this this formula which works but when I click on another year, 2024, for example it still shows the committed dollars of 27M although that data was for march 2023 and not for 2024.

Join the date with date of date table

MTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD('Date'[Date]))
last MTD Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),DATESMTD(dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,MONTH)))

Current Month = [MTD Sales] - [last MTD Sales]
