I have created a SQL server dashboard using parameters , that takes the server name and builds the dynamic report. However, I would like users to input the parameters to the power bi report, when the report is opened. So I would like to have a pop up window appear, that would allow users to input the server name and then load the reports.
Please let me know, how can i achieve this.
Thanks
Amruta
Hello!
As I understand you, what you want is for the user to perform a filtering action when entering to filter all the pages of your report, right?
It occurs to me that you can do the following:
1) Create a homepage that has a filter (it can be a dropdown menu or text entry filter) with all the names of your available servers and an apply button for it to take effect.
2) Synchronize this filter to apply to all pages.
3) You can add more options like back to home buttons, or add the filter to all pages by whether you like to switch servers on a certain page, or add a button to clear filters.
Best regards!
@amitchandak - Thank you for your quick response, but i dont think the link answers my question. So just to ellaborate, I have a report that queries many servers and gets the server state , like the drive space, the space occupied by data and log files , backup date etc , and to make this report dynamic, I have used parameters. But I want to edit the parameters , from a pop up window that will accept the server name i type as the parameter and then load the report. So that need popup screen needs to appear when i open the report and then loads the report on the basis of what the user has typed.
If there is anything you could suggest, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Amruta
Hi @AmrutaKar ,
Check the following documents about report templates in Power BI Desktop and template apps in Power BI Service and see if it helps.
