How to add a trend line and present the date (Month/Year) in correct order in scatter chart?

Hi,

I know the question should be pretty simple, but I'm not sure what I've done wrong and couldn't make these two happen together. I'm trying to plot the graph with x-axis showing the date in (month/year) ascending format, and could also be able to plot a trend line at the same time.

There are 2 problems I'm facing now.

1. If I use Month/Year format in the x-axis, no trend line option is available, and am not able to place DAX formula to do so. Furthermore, the sequence that shown is not correct. Please refer to below.

Scatter Chart 1.PNG  2.  The trend line option will only be available when the x-axis is number, but then I will not be able to show the users which month and year that is representing if only having a single number. it will just like below. Scatter Chart 2.PNG

Will anyone be able to solve this issue? Much appreciated!!

Thanks,

Iris

Anyone can help with this? Robot wink

Hi @puglover

I would suggest you add two columns for your table and then use sort by column for MMMM YYYY column like below.Use the MMMM YYYY column as X-Axis.

MMMM YYYY = FORMAT('Table'[Date],"MMMM YYYY")
Order = YEAR('Table'[Date])*100+MONTH('Table'[Date])

Hi @v-cherch-msft

Thanks for stepping in and trying to offer help!

However, the issue remains even when I follow your method. Please see below scatter chart. Besides, the option of trendline is gone as well. Is there a way to settle these two problems at the same time?

Hi @puglover

Try to drag both the MMMM YYYY and End Month to x-axis.Then check if it could add the line.If it is not your case,could you share a simple file for us to test?You can upload the .pbix file to OneDrive and post the link here. Do mask sensitive data before uploading.
