How to Use Dynamic Slicers in Power BI with Live Connection

Hi Fabric Community,

I'm currently working on a Power BI report using a live connection to a semantic model. My challenge is to implement dynamic slicers without switching to a mixed model, which creates a new semantic model that I want to avoid.

Here's the scenario:

  • I have separate dimension and fact tables in my source.

  • I need end-users to have the flexibility to choose different dimensions and measures dynamically (similar to the field parameters feature in Power BI).

I'm looking for solutions or workarounds that would allow this flexibility while keeping the live connection intact and avoiding the need for a mixed model. Are there any custom slicers, visuals, or other approaches that could help achieve this?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Hi @uma91 ,

I would create this Field Parameters in the original Semantic Model, in order to use it on your report otherwise and to my knowledge you will always need to have the composite model.

One option that you can try the personalize visuals options.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/power-bi-personalize-visuals?tabs=powerbi-...

This option can be given at several levels, full report, a page or a specific visual
