You can analyze your model using the VertiPaq Analyzer to see which parts of the model are expensive:

Filter your query by dates and other fields as well. If you are only looking at a year, as an example, do not load 3 years worth of data. Here we also filter by business segment, salesperson, or territory depending on what the data model is showing. I do have one large set for a complete view but find the smaller, more nimble filtered sets to be invaluable for specific data.
