I have Power BI Premium and Desktop. I've created a fab Power BI report analysing customer satisfaction. However, I've fallen at the final (and seemingly massively technical / complex!) hurdle of showing it to other people. It seems noone else in my organisation can view the report or interact with it, unless I save as a static PDF (nice, but useless) OR they themselves have some sort of Pro / Premium PBI license.
First I've 'Published' it from Desktop to 'My Workspace', which seems to be the place to initiate sharing with others. I then Open the report in what seems like a web-based Power BI app as it opens in my web browser (part of the web-based 365 app suite?). Then I try the various 'Share' options and send links, even add email addresses to background permission settings, but this seems to require other users to also have some version of PBI. If I copy the HTML from the 'File' menu to embed the report into SharePoint somewhere, again it seems to require my viewing target audience to have the PBI license. Plus there's an added issue: It doesn't even show the filter pane so people can't use the suite of filters I created for them! And yes, the filters options are visible, they are visible in my Desktop report, on the web-based PBI app version, just not anywhere thereafter.
How on Earth do I simply get from, 'Right. Happy with my report' to 'I now want others to be able to use and interact with it, filters pane and all, just as I've created it, in their web browser'? I thought the whole point of PBI is powerfully analysing complex data, then sharing insights with non-PowerBI 'consumers' of info. E.g. my senior management don't want to be dealing with a PowerBI app, nor do the wider public if I want to share results online.
I've seen PBI-based reports published online on websites for example, which can be sliced, diced and filtered upon without the webpage visitors having any other software or license than Explorer/Edge/Chrome etc web browser. How do I show my reports like this, in a web browser, with the 'Filters pane' showing, ideally within my organisation only but if not on an external website?
Many thanks for your time. The steps to sharing / licensing seem massively confusing to me. I found it easier to do all the technical work of linking databases and cleaning datasets!

Do you use Office 356? I open my admin panel through it.
Once you publish your report it will be publicly available.
It sounds like you are trying to share to your users from your workspace which is likely not a 'Premium' workspace.
I'd suggest reading more about this on Microsoft's documentation because I'm sure I'll leave something out. (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-share-dashboards)
You mention you have Power BI Premium, but you will also need to publish to a workspace that is using the 'Premium capacity'. You can tell if they are by clicking 'Workspaces' and they should have a little diamond next to them. You should have a chat with whoever the admin is of your companies Power BI environment to discuss this. Either way, after this is sounds like you may benefit from publishing as an app to share with your management! Thanks Syk. I read the link on 'Premium Capacity' and SKUs, but this may as well be in a foreign language, it makes no sense to me. I can't understand why I can't share something for others to read, despite supposedly buying Microsoft's 'Premium' license to create and share stuff. This is way too complex and doing my head in! Do I need some sort of other 'premium' license for 'capacity' (whatever that is)?
I don't see any diamands or anything next to 'My Workspace'. My IT dept has also restricted my ability to create any other 'Workspaces'.
Thanks again for your time! Adrian
Your company should have a premium capacity already. Ask your IT team to create a new workspace for you on the premium capacity. If they're worth their salt, they should only ask you what you want it named and then you should have a premium workspace (diamond next to it)!

Thanks Dond,
I don't have those options, so will get on to my IT dept. Here's what I can see in the 'Admin Portal'...
Once I've 'published to web', will non-PowerBI users be able to interact with the published report and use the filters pane?
Thanks again, Adrian
