@princeisland

Power BI Desktop, go to the "Visualizations" pane.
Select the "Combo Chart" option, which is a combination of a line and clustered column chart.
Add Data to the Combo Chart:

Drag the fields you want to visualize into the "Shared Axis" field well. This will be the common axis for both the column and line charts.
Drag the measure or column you want to display as columns into the "Column Values" field well.
Drag the measure or column you want to display as a line into the "Line Values" field well.

Hello @princeisland

Try using the below steps to achieve this.

Steps to add a trend line in a Combo Chart:

  1. Create a Combo Chart:

    • In Power BI Desktop, select your Clustered Column Chart visualization.
    • From the Visualizations pane, choose Combo Chart (this is the chart type that combines both columns and a line).
  2. Configure the Combo Chart:

    • In the Visualizations pane, make sure your Columns and Values are correctly placed:
      • Place the field that you want to display as columns in the Column Values (usually your metric like "Sales").
      • Place the field for the trend line in the Line Values (often this would be the same metric as in the columns, but aggregated in a way that shows the trend, such as using a moving average or simply a total).
  3. Set the Line as Trend Line:

    • If you want a smooth trend line across the columns, you can use the "Line Values" field to show a trend (e.g., a running total, average, or just the overall total).
    • You can also adjust the line style under the Format pane:
      • Go to Format > Data Colors to adjust colors.
      • Under Shapes, you can adjust the Line to have a specific thickness, type, and style.

I hope my solution helps! If it works for you and resolves the issue you're facing, please consider marking it as the solution. This will make it easier for others who encounter the same problem to find the answer and save them some time.

If you're happy with the solution, feel free to provide some Kudos as well
