How did you learn M?

I want to be able to write custom M. I feel its the main thing limiting me currently while you can do a lot with the recorded steps too often there a simple things I want to adjust and just need to write some small M but just can't read it. Especially when half the script looks commented.

Advice, resource on learning M appreacited. Especially if it worked for you.
