How can I connect Pluralsight to Power BI to analyze learning/training data?

Hello @Everyone

Good Day!

I’d love to visualize metrics like course progress, skill development, or user engagement, but I’m unsure about the best way to extract and integrate Pluralsight data into Power BI. Has anyone tackled this before?

A few things I’m curious about:
🔹 Does Pluralsight offer an **API** or **built-in connectors** for Power BI?
🔹 Are there workarounds (like exporting CSVs/Excel files and transforming data)?
🔹 Any tips for automating data refreshes?

If you’ve done this or know a guide/tool that can help, I’d *greatly* appreciate your insights! Let’s turn data into actionable insights together. 🚀

Hi @VenuBollineni
Pluralsight does not offer a dedicated API or built-in connector for Power BI. However, you can integrate data from Pluralsight into Power BI through the following methods:

1. Exporting and Importing Data:

  • Manual Export: Download CSV or Excel files from Pluralsight and import them into Power BI. This method is straightforward but requires manual updates.
  • Automated Export: Utilize tools like Power Automate to automate the export of data from Pluralsight to a storage solution (e.g., OneDrive or SharePoint). Power BI can then be set up to refresh data from these locations on a scheduled basis.

2. Developing a Custom Connector:

  • Power Query SDK: Create a custom connector using the Power Query SDK to directly pull data from Pluralsight's platform into Power BI. This approach requires development skills and access to Pluralsight's data endpoints.

Automating Data Refreshes:

  • Scheduled Refresh: Configure Power BI to refresh datasets at specified intervals, ensuring your reports display the most current data.
  • Event-Driven Refresh: Use Power Automate to trigger data refreshes in Power BI based on specific events, such as the addition of new data to your source files.
