Hierarchies in tables

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to replicate a report that used to reside in Excel. The end result must look like this
Table.PNG

My issue is that i cannot find a way to get the same sort of hierarchy type treatment in the rows. For example having the day vs night shift under Employee type, and the date below that.

I thought a matrix would handle this but its not working out :S

Can any one offer some advice?

Thanks!

To achieve your requirement, you need to create a custom hierarchies. Then use Matrix visual to display data in Power BI.

Please refer to following steps:

1. Since you did not share us your source table structure and the sample data. I have assumed your source data is like:

1.PNG

2. Create a Custom Hierarchie for your source table.

3. Use Matrix visual to display the data.

The result show like this:

2.PNG

If above sample doesn't satisfy your requirement, please kindly share us your source table structure and some sample data. So that we can make some corresponding tests.

Thanks,
Xi Jin.

Here is another variation of the report I need to replicate. You can see each cost type gets seperated into an activity and a day and night wuantity of hours.
