Help with creating PowerBI, Excel and Power Automate link

Hi nko  It is possible to export data of a Power BI Report and save it as csv or excel using a Power Automate Flow. You will only be needing Power Automate Free License to achieve this automation. Please check out the below detailed video on how to setup that power automate flow with few mins.

Yes, you can absolutely create an automated flow that links Power BI, Excel, and Power Automate. Here's how you can set it up:

To start, if your Power BI dashboard is based on a published dataset, the recommended approach is to connect your Excel file directly to that dataset. You can do this in Excel by going to Data > Get Data > From Power Platform > From Power BI. This creates a live connection, allowing Excel to always pull the most up-to-date data from Power BI without manual exports.

Next, to automate the update process, you'll want to use Office Scripts in combination with Power Automate. Since Power Automate doesn’t refresh Excel data connections on its own, you can create a script in Excel Online that refreshes the data, then set up a flow in Power Automate to trigger that script on a regular schedule—such as monthly. Make sure your Excel file is stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, as this ensures compatibility with Power Automate.

If you'd like Power BI to reflect changes based on updates in Excel, you can also create a flow that triggers a Power BI dataset refresh whenever the Excel file is updated.
