Help with Slider Visual; Using "between" function for period dates not working

Hello Power BI Community,

Having some trouble with the Slicer visual. I'm using the "between" functionality on it, because i'm trying to have my dashboard reflect data between fiscal periods.

These periods range from 2018 - 2020 and are denoted as such:

201801, 201802, 201803.....2018011, 201812.....201901, 201902, 201903..........201911, 201912, 202001 etc.

Jan             Feb            Mar                 Nov             Dec                Jan         Feb              Mar                  Nov           Dec             Jan

However, when using the slicer, it's including periods that don't exist. After the year cuts off at 201812 the slicer shows 201813 through to 201899 and 201913 through to 201999.

My question is this; When using the "between" functionality, how do I have the slicer explicetly show the periods ranging from XXXX01 - XXXX12 and not the numbers in between the fiscal periods (XXXX13 - XXXX99)?

The between slicer needs a continuous column, and will show all numbers in a continuous way between the two values.

There's no real easy way to do this with a between slicer. One way, could be to use the Microsoft custom vis - "Timeline Slicer". You are slicing off a date key, but for this you really want to use a date column, formatted as a date. you can use a calculated column such as:

Date = DATE(  LEFT(Table[Fiscal Period],4) , (RIGHT(Table[Fiscal Period],2), 1)
