I am struggling with what I feel is a basic question.
I have built a table to summarize various categories and the distinct count for each category. If i were to select a specific category (row), is there a way to access all of the records for that particular category? Similar to if you were to create a pivot table in excel and double click on a line item that would take you to all of the records for that summarized line item.
Thanks!

You might want to look at a Matrix visual rather then a table; a Matrix can be multileveled, where you can set the Categories as the primary rows, and some other column as secondary that you can collapse to.
Kind regards
