Hi @650AA ,
Please try below steps:
1. Data Preparation:
- Ensure that your dataset includes a column with the correct geographical names or codes for the UK rail regions.
- If possible, include additional geographical data such as latitude and longitude coordinates for more accurate placement.
2. Choosing the Right Map Visualization:
- Power BI offers different types of map visualizations such as the standard Map, Filled Map, and Shape Map. For a heat map, you might want to use the Filled Map.
- If the built-in map visualizations do not meet your needs, consider using custom visuals from the Power BI Visuals Marketplace, such as the Synoptic Panel by OKViz.
3. Setting Up the Map Visualization:
- Drag the map visualization onto your report canvas.
- Add the geographical column to the Location field well.
- Add the measure or value you want to represent (e.g., passenger numbers, frequency of service) to the Color saturation field well to create the heat effect.
4. Adjusting Map Settings:
- In the Format pane, adjust the map settings to fine-tune the appearance of your heat map.
- Make sure the Data Category for your geographical column is set correctly under the Modeling tab to ensure Power BI interprets the data as UK regions.
5. Troubleshooting Incorrect Locations:
- If regions are still showing up incorrectly, you may need to refine your geographical data or use a different naming convention that Power BI recognizes.
- Consider creating a custom map with the Shape Map visual if the built-in geocoding does not recognize your regions accurately.
