Group column chart axis date by month

Hi all,

I'm looking to create a new bar chart. The data I'm plotting tracks certain counts by date. Wihtin the chart, however, I want it grouped by month.

I already looked at posts like...

• https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Group-dates-to-Month/m-p/166970 (don't seem to have the auto-grouping on the right)
• https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Bar-chart-showing-each-day-want-grouped-by-month/td-p/18303... (can't set any timing intelligence settings)

...but for some reason, the menu items are not enabled / visible for me.

Any help to get the columns grouped would be much appreciated, thanks!

Does your data source have a calendar table? If not then you need to convert from Live to Direct Query and add the Month column manually.
