Getting Error when connecting to Oracle DB

Hello,

 

I am trying to connect to oracle db. when asks for server name i tried with  ip address 192.168.1.40

it gives me the following error:

Hi @Anonymous ,

Please check that the connect descriptor corresponding to the service name in TNSNAMES.ORA has an SID component in the CONNECT_DATA.

Here are the simliar articles that you can refer:

  1. Error: ORA-12504: TNS:listener was not given the SERVICE_NAME in CONNECT_DATA 
  2. Excel Error : Oracle: ORA-12504: TNS:listener was not given the SERVICE_NAME in CONNECT_DATA 

It might occur if the Oracle client either isn't installed or isn't configured properly. If it's installed, verify that the tnsnames.ora file is properly configured and you're using the proper net_service_name. You also need to make sure that the net_service_name is the same between the machine that uses Power BI Desktop and the machine that runs the gateway. For more information, see Install the Oracle client.

@Anonymous , Hope you installed the driver and added path into the env variables
