Hi @anmolmalviya05

The error you are encountering, "[DataSource.MissingClientLibrary] ADO.NET: Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed," typically occurs when Power BI cannot find the necessary ADO.NET provider to connect to your data source.

Here are the steps to resolve this issue:

1. Ensure the Required Data Provider is Installed:

  • The error message suggests that the ADO.NET provider required to connect to the data source (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Dataverse) is missing.
  • You will need to install the appropriate client library for the data source you're trying to connect to. Here are common providers:
    • SQL Server: Install the latest version of the SQL Server Native Client or Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server.
    • Snowflake: Install the Snowflake ODBC Driver and configure it.
    • Oracle: Install the ODAC (Oracle Data Access Components) or the Oracle OLE DB Provider.
    • Dataverse: Make sure you have the Microsoft Dataverse OData Provider.

You can typically find these on the official websites of the data source you're using.

2. Check Your .NET Framework Version:

  • Ensure that your system has the correct version of the .NET Framework installed.
  • Some providers require specific versions of .NET. To check your version:
    • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features and check which versions of .NET are installed.
    • If necessary, update or install the required .NET version from the official Microsoft .NET Framework download page.

3. Check for 32-bit vs. 64-bit Compatibility:

  • Power BI Desktop can be installed as a 32-bit or 64-bit application. Ensure that the version of the ADO.NET provider matches the architecture of your Power BI Desktop (i.e., both should be either 32-bit or 64-bit).
  • You can check the version of Power BI Desktop you're using by going to File > About.

4. Reinstall Power BI Desktop:

  • If the error persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling Power BI Desktop, ensuring you download the correct version (32-bit or 64-bit) that matches your environment.

    5. Test with Another Data Source:
  • If possible, test the connection with another data source to confirm whether the issue is isolated to one specific provider.

6. Clear Cache and Credentials in Power BI:

  • Sometimes old credentials or cache issues can cause problems. To clear this:
    • Go to File > Options and Settings > Data Source Settings.
    • Clear the credentials for the problematic data source.
    • Restart Power BI Desktop and attempt the connection again.
