How can I connect to SSAS running to a local instance with power bi service?
We deployed a cube in azure virtual machine because we need to save memory in analysis service server (tier S0-estandar 10 Gb of memory).
I am trying out to connect with a local (in my pc) instance of Power BI Desktop through get data: SSAS
IP -> server + db -> name. Would work? I tryed with server : port but does not find the server.
Anyone knows an step-by-step to connect to a locally deployed cube?
Thanks in advance!!
@Anonymous,
Based on your description, you install SSAS in a Azure VM, and install Power BI Desktop in your local PC, right? If that is the case, are you able to connect to SSAS from SQL Server Management Studio installed in your local PC using server : port? And have you added the port into firewall inbound rule of the Azure VM?
However, if you install SSAS and Power BI Desktop in a same machine, you can directly use "localhost" as Server.
Regards,
Lydia
