Get Data imports names [List] and [Table]

Hi all

I am importing data from a SharePoint online list into PowerBi desktop. Most of the columns imported properly. Some fields did not import properly

1. The [Created By] field is an autogenerated SharePoint field of type "Person or List".

I expected to see the name of the Creators. However all I see is the word [List] instead of the Creator name. See screenshot below

2. The [System] field is a Lookup. I expected to see a list of Systems, instead I see [Table]

3. The [Assigned] field is of type "person or group". I expected to see names. Instead it is imported with the text [Table]

Why is the data not being imported properly?

@vincetaylor , Open Power query, and check, you should get an expand option for these columns, once you use that you will get columns

Hi , @vincetaylor

Based on your screenshot, you can see that the current field returns data of the [Table] and [List] types.

The reason for this behavior is because you imported the Power Bi Desktop without properly processing the data in Power Query Editor.

So you need to click "Transform data" in Power BI Desktop to enter the Power Bi Query Editor .

In Power Query, you can delete fields you don't want, then extend your Table or List fields to achieve the data results you want before "Apply" to Power BI Desktop.

Thank you for your time and sharing, and thank you for your support and understanding of PowerBI!

Best Regards,

Aniya Zhang
