Hello all,
I am writing to understand if Get Data from Power BI Datasets is useful to me. I currently use PBI Desktop and not Power BI Service. Therefore, I don't have a way to verfiy the utility of this feature and hence, I am asking this question here.
If I create a data model (which has been created after applying fairly large no. of steps and the Load has beenEnabled) and the same dataset has been imported by using Get Data: Power Bi Datasets does it also bring all the steps along with the data or just the data only (thin data) and not the steps at all.
I am trying to ascertain if I can get the "Thin Data" only by using Get Data: Power BI Datasets.
I appreciate any feedback.
Thanks.
It will connect to data set in power service as live connection and there will be no steps. I hope it is helpful

Thanks @parry2k for the prompt response.
So to clarify,
the live connection means that my source data is absolutely flat and therefore, whatever subsequent query I build on the Power BI Dataset will not have any performance issue at all compared to subsequent queries being built on the data set with all the steps (Reference Table in Edit Queries).
Hi @smpa01,
In Power Query, "Enable Load" means query results are available for report builder. Otherwise you may use it in your other queries (for example to merge data), but it is not shown in the report builder.
Reference in Query means you would like to use that Query results in some other queries where your original query remains as a base Query and it can be used in other queries for the further processing.
Thanks & Regards,
Angelia
