Is there a maximum number of rows or cells that Power BI can link to from Excel. Also is there any other data limits when working in Power BI?

Hi there,
There are few things to consider before we discuss this further.
1. PowerBI contains columnar based xVelocity in memory analytics engine. It's speed and data processing limit depends on the amount of RAM you have installed on your machine.
2. It is also important to note that if you are using 32 bit/64 bit version of the machine.
With 32 bit, The maximum data processing limit is 2 GB. With 64 bit, There is virtually no limit of processing data. However, As I said earlier, It depends on the amount of RAM installed and increased volumes of data can significantly slow down the speed of the processingdata.
3. Also, Creating a calculated columns may consume more precious RAM than creating a measure. So, whenever possible create measures than calculated columns.
4. Data Granularity/ Data Type
There are other considerations as well but this will give you the ideas to start off with your excel data.
Thanks & Regards,
Bhavesh
