Hello,
Sorry guys if its a double post but i've tried already the main suggestions in the previous posts, and it is still not working!
I am simply trying to show some data according to a timeline on the x-axis. My dates are the following (see pictures).
I have already checked the following:
1) the column is in "date" format
2) under "modeling" tab, the column "sent_date" is indeed sort as the "sent_date".
3) in the graph visual, the graph is sort by "sent_date" and not "date hierarchy"
any suggestions?
thanks!
@Anonymous ,
Can you please check the sorting order of that Graph? Click on 3 dots on that graph and check the sorting order. (Attached screen shot for reference)
Or else just upload the excel file with this date column so I can test at my end.
Don't forgrt to hit THUMBS UP and Accept this as a solution if it helps you!
Thanks a lot for your further suggestions.
I did check the sorting order directly on the graph (that was check n° 3). but still not working. find below the dates.

@Anonymous ,
As you mentioned sort order of graph set to some check n° so it should be Sent_Date.

yes thats what I did.
@Anonymous ,
I replicated your issue at my end with the help of dates you provided. I can't see any issue on that chart.

thanks!
DId you try Scatter chart? (when i make a stacked column chart, the dates are in correct order as well on my side)
edit: Oh wait, I dont have the same in the yellow highlighted parts you showed!
si the data type and format is correct when i am in data sheet. but when i am in the report sheet on the graph visual, the data type and format are empty (where you have indeed the correct data type and format when looking at your graph) what should I do next to obtain smth similar than you?
@Anonymous ,
Even Line chart is working fine.

@Anonymous ,
If possible so can you please upload PBIX file so I can check at my side. Just keep that Sent_Date Column and one dummy value column.

thanks a lot for your help. I can unfortunately not share. But it seems that there is smth different on my side.
so if I compare your last screen shot (graph visual, data type and format), i do not have anything for those. How come? in my table, the column is correctly formatted as "date".
@Anonymous , In order to see the Data type and format , you need to select Sent_Date column from your right most Field pane.

oh no... i do have the correct format when clicking on Sent_date from the right column. dont know whats going on.
Don't Panic @Anonymous .
Just go to your Report Page --> Select Sent_Date from Field Pane (right most pane)--> Go to Modelling tab --> Select Data Type to DATE and Data format to any format which you want from the list of option.

thanks Thareem, but this is already set correctly. so everything looks like it is set correctly so far. but still not in the right order.
aaaaah. I found why... that's because of my legend. (there are 3 groups within all my points). and for each group, it puts it in the chronological order. so thats is why, i dont have the correct chronological order overall.
@Anonymous Great! That's why I was asking your PBIX file to take a closer look at the fields you have used in Axes/Lengend/Values etc.

so... there is no way to have a legend with different color for groups without disturbing the chronological order`?
but @Tahreem24 , thats exactly from where the probleme came from.
By pulling the field into legend, it will seperate the groups along the x-axis timeline. (thats was the source of the problem).
How do you add legend without distrubing the x-axis time line?
i would like jan-feb-march but by adding my legend (3 groups), it changes into jan feb march jan feb march jan feb march. that was the initial problem that causes my data not to be chronological as the data were seperated according to groups.
@Anonymous ,
May be you have some missing group on that day. Click on Show Data under 3 dots on that graph. (Like below snap)

thanks a lot. It seems to work on your side! so maybe there is an issue in my data since I do not have data on every days. Do you think it could cause the issue i am having? The issue is I do not have data for every days. Only some days.
Find attached the *show data" snap. as you can seem the groups 1, 2, 3 are gathered togeter and do not follow the chronological order. But if we look within every group, it is in chronological order)
