I am looking for a way to format more the slices of a pie chart, currently is only possible to change the color, but I would like to add a pattern or even a figure, is this possible? I have seen the Infographic Designer does something along this line but it is not available for pie chart, it also does not interact with other visuals.
I am actually looking to animate the pie chart so the solution should be able to interact with other visuals such as Play Axis.
Hello @FC_de22,
Unfortunately, adding patterns or figures to individual slices in a pie chart is not possible with the built-in formatting options in Power BI. However, there are a few workarounds that you could consider:
As for animating the pie chart, you can use the Play Axis feature to animate the chart over a series of time steps. This will show how the proportions change over time. Note that this feature may not be available in all versions of Power BI, so be sure to check if it's available in your version.
4. Using a combination chart: You can create a combination chart that uses both a pie chart and a stacked bar chart to display your data. The stacked bar chart can have patterns or figures added to the individual bars, and you can use the pie chart to show the proportions of the different categories.
3. Using conditional formatting: You can use conditional formatting to apply different colors to the slices based on some criteria. This can give the illusion of adding patterns or figures to the slices. For example, you could use a series of solid colors to represent different patterns.
2. Using custom visuals: You can find some custom visuals in the Power BI AppSource that offer more formatting options for pie charts, including adding patterns or figures to individual slices. Just make sure to check the compatibility and reviews of the visual before installing it to ensure it meets your requirements.
1. Using the Infographic Designer: As you mentioned, the Infographic Designer allows you to add patterns and figures to your data points. However, as you also noted, it doesn't interact with other visuals and cannot be used with pie charts.
