Forecasting Feature in Line Chart - How does it work?

Hi everyone

I`m wondering how the forecasting feature we can apply when using a line chart works?

Which algorithm is used, for example? I could only find one rather old source from 2016 (https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Predict-your-milestones-with-forecasting-in-Power-BI... ) and some videos explaining how to set up the forecast.
