Filtering across pages using a visualization on one page

Hello,

I have a power bi dashboard with around 8 pages in it and I want filter across these pages. For example, if I select part of a treemap, I want rest of the visualizations in the 8 pages reflect that. Is there a way to do this other then using slicer, as slicer limits what I want to do.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I'm having the same issues as you do, may I know what approach you take to solve this?

Thanks!

What you are wanting to do cant be done across multiple pages using visuals as a synced filter. Filters can sync across multiple pages but visuals wont do that. You need to use either drill through or use tooltips as outlined above to get the effect and you will if the report is planned out.

Hi @v-xulin-mstf ,

What I wanted to do can't be done with Power BI currently, so I just extended a report and added all the visuals to the one report.

Hi @abhi87

You can use cross-report drillthrough in Power BI.

Please refer:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-cross-report-drill-through

If you still have some question, please don't hesitate to let me known.‌‌

Hi @v-xulin-mstf

I want all the visuals cross filtered, drill-through doesn't let me do that

Hi @abhi87,

Maybe you can try Sync slicers to meet your need.

For more information, please refer:

Drill through is probably your best option:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-drillthrough

This doesnt work on dashboards but does on reports. You could, I suppose, pin a livepage to your dashboard rather than having pinned selected visuals. That would give the ability to drill through direct from the dashboard page.

Tool tips as well will enhance the experience:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-tooltips

Hello, no, I dont believe you can. You could use drill through to achieve a similar result to what you are wanting but not from a visual.

How could I use drill through to achieve this?

Also here two other ways I was thinking off achieving this:

1) Having a super long page lengtt or width wise so I can have all the visualizations on one page, but, is there a way to the extend page size on the dashboard?

2) Having all the visualizations on one page hidden behind each other, so when something is selected, only the relvant information/visualizations are showen, is this possible to do?

Hello,

you cant to my knowledge change the size of a dashboard but you can change the size of a report. it might get a bit unwieldy though.

you certainly can have it all on one page with stuff hidden/showing using bookmarks but the bookmarks use the filters when set so wouldnt cross filter as such

Hi,

So if those two options don't work. Is there any other way you recommend doing it to get the outcome I want?
