Figure comparison [ Dataset comparison ]

Hi Everyone,

 

I'm trying to compare year/year, month/month e.t.c figures.

I have tried using the clustered bar chart and the tornado visual to display these figures but I'm unsure where to adjust accordingly.

I have set a filter for the supplier based on the number of works they do but can only get it to display for one table and not two combined ( I have two datasets - 2021 v 2022 )

 

 

 

Below I have tried adding the number of work orders from the older dataset but I'm only getting the total ( 8740 ).

Essentially Powerbi is comparing all suppliers based on work V total works in a different data set.

 

 

 

 

I want to compare both datasets dynamically.

I tried also adding the suppliers from the other dataset but no luck.

 

What I have tried so far :

- Creating a relationship between the columns ( but there were some suppliers we used last year that are not present and vice versa)

- Use both suppliers and work order fields on the visual filter ( No luck )

 

Looking for some workaround, Dax expression or my logic is flawed?

    The two visuals below are charts with the separate datasets [ 2021 v 2022 ] which is representing the figures correctly, but I'm looking to have both figure side by side hence the tornado visual.

    Hi JKTUATH 

     

    Do you have two years' data in two different tables? If so you need to use two measures to calculate the results from two tables separately. Or you can calculate results into a new calculated table in advance. Then add a legend field to the tornado visual instead of using two measures. And I guess you probably need to use a year/month slicer to switch the year or month for comparison.

    If this doesn't help, can you please provide some dummy data to show the data table you have? We can try to think of detailed solutions based on the data then.

      No, I'm not using two date tables.

      I created a custom date hierarchy within Bravo.

      Please see below:

       

      I have two separate tables for 2022 & 2021 respectively.

      Both tables have the same columns and naming conventions from the portal I have extracted them from.

       

      I'm not sure how I can implement a calculated column in order to compare total values from each dataset based on the suppliers.

       

      Would creating a measure be recommended if I were to import another source in the future?
