Good afternoon,
I'm from Brazil, so I apologize for any mistakes in my English. The company's IT team has accessed my computer several times and can't find the error, and neither can I. I created a Power BI report with indicators, and every time I try to publish and update it via Workspace, one of the credentials doesn't work. I can easily connect to Salesforce and the Excel spreadsheet, but when connecting to an Oracle SQL Developer server, it fails on the website and shows the following error: "Failed to update data source credentials: An error occurred while reading data from the provider: 'No ODAC driver was found on the system.'" I've tried everything, using OAuth2, basic, Windows without impersonation, and nothing works... I don't want to keep opening the BI application and installing it repeatedly, as the goal is to share it with the team (especially with the manager).
The ODAC drivers are already installed, and the Oracle Client too, but when I try anything in Power BI Service, I can't get it to work, only in the Desktop version. This is literally the last step I need to take before I can officially publish the dashboard. I also have the Data Gateway installed on my machine.
For some reason, I'm unable to attach screenshots, but here's the error in detail:
Failed to update data source credentials: An error occurred while reading data from the provider: 'No ODAC driver was found on the system. Visit https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkID=272376 to install the provider.' Hide details.
Hi @LeonardoUcella
Let’s try to troubleshoot this step by step.
Verify ODAC Installation: Ensure that the Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) are correctly installed on the machine where the Power BI Gateway is running. Sometimes, even if ODAC is installed, it might not be recognized due to path issues or incorrect installation.
Check Environment Variables: Make sure that the environment variables for Oracle are set correctly. This includes "ORACLE_HOME" and adding the path to the ODAC installation to the "PATH" environment variable.
Gateway Configuration: Since you mentioned that the Data Gateway is installed, ensure that it is configured correctly. Go to the Power BI Service, navigate to the settings for your dataset, and check the data source credentials under the Gateway connection settings. Make sure the credentials are correct and test the connection.
Driver Compatibility: Ensure that the bitness (32-bit or 64-bit) of the ODAC driver matches the bitness of the Power BI Gateway. Mismatched bitness can cause connection issues.
Update Gateway and Drivers: Make sure that both the Power BI Gateway and the ODAC drivers are up to date. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues.
Test Connection Locally: Try to connect to the Oracle database using a different tool (like SQL Developer) on the same machine where the Gateway is installed. This can help verify if the issue is specific to Power BI or a broader connectivity issue.
Best Regards,
Jayleny
