FILTERS AND slicers effecting this page

I'm new to Power BI and my questions are rather basic.

When I click on "Filter Affecting This Visual" button, I can hardly see the filters. How can I make it bold/readable?

My other questions is,  I've see in some of the screen pictures on this Forum that some users have 3 icons on the top left of the Desktop version. I just have Report and Models. How can I get the 3rd icon?

TIA.

Hi @MitraM

As for the first part of your question, I presume you are referring to viewing the report in the Service? It is possible that this is due to the browser font, possibly try CTRL and scrolling your mouse button to increase / decrease the font size.

For the second part - If you open a blank instance of PBI Desktop ,do you see the three icons ( Report, Data, Model) ?

If so and the data icon disappears when you load up your data model, this is because the model is using Direct Query ( if you are linking to a SQL Server for instance). You can try importing a test text file in and see if your icon returns. Not seeing the data icon when just using Direct Query connections is not an error, but by design.

Hope this helps,

Manfred

Hi Manfred.

I am at the desktop. I have attached a screen picture.

You answered my 2nd question. We are using Direct Query.

Hi @MitraM

Ah, I get the greyed out problem now. I believe you can adjust the filter view by changing the font and icon in the filter pane settings.

To get this, go to a blank part of your report and click (1). This will allow setting for the view to be adjusted. Follow these steps:

Hope this helps

@mwimberger  I already had the same selections as yours.

Hi @MitraM ,

This setting can control the font and backgroud color of Filter Panel ir Right Navigation Bar, We can reproduce the small font size issue when we zoom out the size of Power Bi Desktop, it works fine once we zoom it in to the full size of screen.

Can you reproduce this issue in the almost full screen size of Power BI Desktop?

Hi @v-lid-msft  Still the same.  MAximized. MAde a bigger. Whatever I tried didn't resolve it.

Hi @MitraM ,

If update to the latest version still does not work, you can try the workaround in the Reply 9 of  similar thread.

@mwimberger  I updated my desktop version to the newest version released on 10/24 and still the same.

@v-lid-msft   The links in the previous post do not exist anymore.

Hi @MitraM ,

Sorry for that, We cannot reproduce the issue here and also not found an effective solution. We suggest you to delete the screenshot which contain your information first and open a ticket here for help if you are a pro user: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/support/

Hi @v-lid-msft

I'm working with Microsoft partner to address this issue. I will open a ticket as you suggested if needed. And if we could resolve it I will update this ticket with resolution.

 Thank you.

Hi @MitraM

Indeed an odd experience you are having. I also misunderstood the filter issue you were having with my first solution - as that addressed the background colour etc for the Filter pane and not the filter on the header of the visual. My bad.

Have you tried recreating the visual on another blank page, (possibly) with the default theme?
Also, I presume you are using the latest Power BI Build ? (2.74.5619.862 is the most recent from 24/10/2019).

Cheers

Manfred

Hi @MitraM Just for comparison, here is how it looks on my machine. NathanielFiltere.PNG

Not using direct query, although should not matter.

Hi @Nathaniel_C   Yes. In my other model it works perfectly. Same as what you pasted. That one is Direct Query as well.
