Extracting information from Jira?

Hello,

I am new to Power BI and I need to extract information from a Jira database and generate charts. If anybody can advise in this matter it will be much appreciated. What I need to know is the query syntax and the method of authentication.

Thank you,

M.R.

If you can connect to database, from powerbi desktop you can use SQL server or oracle database connector depending on the database. If you are unsure of db schema, default JIRA connector is not yet available and you can vote for the idea using below link.

The most common solution is to use one of the apps available on the Atlassian website, such as Alpha Serve. These apps are free for teams with fewer than 10 users, but the cost can become quite high for larger teams since pricing is based on the number of Jira users. The most expensive subscription costs $30,000 per year. This pricing model is somewhat controversial because the cost increases with team size for the same service.

Alternatively, you can opt for a one-time service to install a script that integrates Power BI with Jira. This allows you to pay once without worrying about ongoing subscription fees. One such option is available here: https://vidi-corp.com/how-to-connect-jira-to-power-bi/

Hello @MR2001

I’d like to propose and alternative solution for you, you might want to try out our app - Power BI Connector for Jira: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1221150/power-bi-connector-for-jira?hosting=cloud&tab=overvie... it's available for Jira Cloud / Server / Data Center.

We have a handy User/Admin Guide https://aserve.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PBCFJC/overview and fast/responsive support team at support@alpha-serve.com. Please let us know if you need any assistance.

Cheers!

Anton

Power BI recently added a connector to JIRA. We use it with hosted JIRA and it works well.

Just click on 'Get Data', 'Services' and select 'JIRA'.

What kind of authentication are you using? We have here the admins with jira databse user, and we tried without success. Please could you share with us? We have hosted JIRA here.

It's not clear, whether you use JIRA on premise or hosted. You might find this useful: https://tech-connect.atlassian.net/wiki/display/UPH/Microsoft+Power+BI+Connector
