Expression Error - Google Analytics

Hi All!

I want to connect to the Google Analytics Demo Data (US Marketplace). However, as soon as I want to select a metric I receive the following error:

Expression Error: Access to resource is forbidden

I tried to clear the permissions, restart, update Power BI Desktop, etc. nothing worked.

Can anyone here help me to sort it out?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi @PotoatoesInMy ,

When encountering problems like "Expression Error: Access to resource is forbidden", you can refer to the following blog, which should be able to help you:

Access to the resource is forbidden error in Power BI - SPGuides

It may also be a limitation of data:

Data limits for Universal Analytics properties - Analytics Help (google.com)

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and let me know immediately. Looking forward to your reply.

Best Regards,
Henry

Hi @v-henryk-mstf

thanks for your response. Unfortunately, neither the blog nor the Google Analytics  Help guide could sovle it.
When editing the permissions as mentioned in the blog you sent, I can only choose a Google account, there is no other option to pick from.

In regards to the Google Analytics help, I don't think I have data limitations, since there are plenty of youtube videos, blog posts etc. that can connect just fine. (or at least they were able, non of them was very new).

However, there is not much more to the error then described above. I can see the resource and the drop down with all the underlying views and variables. When I try to select a measure for import I receive the Expression Error.

I made sure that I was selecting appropriate combinations of measures and variables (youtube videos that where it worked). As soon as I select a measure, I keep receiving the same error.

I also tried to contact Google if there is an issue with permissons, but with no luck so far.

Many thanks,

Hi @PotoatoesInMy ,

After carefully reading your previous steps, there is no problem. Most of the reasons for such problems are the data source. Check whether your data source link is wrong and try again. If there is no problem, it may be that the Google Analytics data source has permission restrictions, for which I am sorry. You can temporarily wait for Google’s response, and I will actively cooperate with you to contact the official staff.😊
