Expression.Error: Evaluation resulted in a stack overflow and cannot continue.

I am getting stack overflow error when trying to append 3 tables in Power BI. Two of the tables are coming from SQL server and one is from Kusto. The SQl server tables are appending correctly but the error comes while appending the Kusto table. Could you please let me know if this is a known issue or am I missing something here?

I saw a similar post where someone tried to append two Kusto tables together but in my case, it is one Kusto table and 2 SQL server tables. Has Power BI resolved the issue of appending Kusto tables to avoid this error?

Hi @AnishaSinghal ,

There is a known issue about appending data from Kusto into power bi and seems has been fixed based on my search(ICM: 219724212).

From the information collected by PG, the best workaround for this is probably to call Table.AddIndexColumn on the Kusto data before using Table.Combine.

The main advantage of Table.AddIndexColumn is that it can be used by someone through the UI without any typing.

Thanks a lot for your response @v-yingjl . Adding the index column also helped in appending the tables faster. This was very helpful.

Hi Yingjie Li,

I received the same error in Power Bi. The data source for my work in Power Bi is "Kobo Toolbox". It used to work properly but since the last three days whenever I refresh Power bi for new entries, it gives this error "Evaluation resulted in a stack overflow and cannot continue".

I would appreciate your help in this regards.

Thanks,
