Hi,
I'm trying to import an Excel Workbook connected to a cube but Power BI tells me it doesn't contain any queries or model to import. Anyone have this problem before?
I'm getting some error in importing excel workbook. It says Migration failure, however it was properly importing few days back. PLs help guys.
Hi QuasemS,
I can reproduce your issue when connecting to Excel Workbook which contains cube using File ->import->Excel Workbook Contents option in Power BI Desktop.
As a workaround for this issue, you can import Excel Workbook that connects to cube using Get Data-> Excel option in Power BI Desktop.
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I can do this but I was following best practice to create a KPI table not a data set from a Excel spreadsheet.
Thanks
S
@Anonymous Is this an issue (ie. should work) or is it a current limitation? The link I provided from MS documentation states:
External Connections to Analysis Services Tabular Models: In Excel 2013, it is possible to create a connection to SQL Server Analysis Services Tabular models and create Power View reports on top of these models without the need to import the data. This type of connection is currently not supported as part of importing Excel Workbooks into Power BI Desktop, but will be available in an upcoming update. In the meantime, you must recreate these external connections in Power BI Desktop.
@QuasemS Cube (MD or Tabular)? It may not be supported at this time based on this documentation (Bottom of page)
