HI Experts, I have a question.
I completely understand that PBI is Reporting tool.
Current Business Process:-
Power BI
1.) We have Finance data in Power BI to see the reports and what is happening on daily basis. (This is good and I don't have any issue on this)
Excel
2.1)We are maintaining Same Finance data in Excel (Manually updating from Database), Additionally, In Excel, but additionally, users will manually enters balance values and Comments in Excel workbook and with this it will update few dashboards in Excel related to manaully input data, charts will auto update.
In otherwords, we can say like, Excel is having something like standard template, (Template includes data from Database and Manipulated data including calculation and comments as well)
Target Business Process:-
I want to migrate this excel file into PBI and I want to allow users to add the balanced or missing values and comments with the help of PBI.
Is it something we can acheive this in Power App or something?
In Excel it is not robust way because data will increase day by day.
We doing this Cycle Month by Month.
Thanks in Advance.
Steps below we follow in Excel on Monthly updates but tweaks will be done everyday
Step 1.) Excel file is having Standard Template, which manually updates the data in to Excel file from Database.
Step2.) There will be preexisting formulas in Excel as Template, for all ID's Row by Row and then updates all the calculations.
Step3.) Users will need to enter manually some balanced values and comments in additional columns as Input and for all projects in the same Excel sheet
Step 4.) We have some additional reports in additional sheets which includes various dashoards and gets autoupdates reports in excel.
Step4.)With this Users/Management will get to know high level data.
@Sudhavi_84 , You have to do it in the power App as of now.
You can have you excel on one drive, as you have now, and then create a power app and add that to power bi.
I have tried this with google sheet and one driver and was able to create a power app and use that in power bi
This is what I tried - https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Power-Platform-Integrations/Power-Apps-Power-BI-Better-together-Wri...
I have one more Question please
I have Excel file which includes like 400 Columns.
Around 50 columns coming from One Drive but rest of the 350 columns are formulas in Excel.
So out of 350 Formulas in Excel, I have similar formulas as 100 measures in PBI Model. ( Can I reuse?)
and also, Can I write measures in Power APP?
On highlevel, We have a Area-->Project and when user select projects, it will compare with Current Month, Last Month and Current Year YTD.. So few of this measures I have already in PBI. Can I use it and get them into APP and also if I want can I write new measures in Power APP? So based on the measures it will show the figures and they should be able to modify the other input cells.
Usually, in Excel Input cells(Not Database values), when they are entering data manually, they using formulas to update and dragging to bottom few rows so that input cells will update in bottom cells too.. is it possible for User in Power APP, can they edit and update for multiple projects at same time?
Thanks in Advance
Thank you @amitchandak for your response.
Amazing, with this I can gain PBI App Experience:-)
So I will let you know if I am struggling on something or before I start then:-)
