I get this error message when attempting to refresh my dataset.
Hi @alopez802 ,
This error usually means there’s an issue with authentication, often related to Azure AD device registration or a token problem (sometimes after a password change or policy update).
Here’s what I recommend:
Check your device registration: Go to the Azure Portal > Azure Active Directory > Devices. Make sure your device shows up and is marked as compliant. If it’s not there, you may need to register it or contact your IT team.
Update or re-authenticate your data source credentials in Power BI Service: In Power BI online, go to your workspace > Datasets > Settings > Data source credentials. Click “Edit Credentials,” sign in again, and make sure you use the right authentication method.
Check your account and tenant Double-check that your Power BI login matches your Azure AD tenant. This error can happen if your account was migrated or if there’s a mismatch.
If you’re using a gateway (on-premises data): Make sure your Power BI Gateway is online, up to date, and connected with the right account.
Extra tip: If you recently changed your password, updated policies, or have multiple Microsoft accounts signed in, try signing out everywhere, clear your browser cache, and sign back in.
If you follow these steps and still see the error, your Azure AD admin might need to look into conditional access or compliance policies that could be blocking access.
Hi @alopez802
it seems from the error that it's an oAuth token issue. Did you recently update your password? You may need to go back into settings and then update your credential token and try again.
