Error when linking source tables

Hi,

I'm trying to link two tables based on a location number. In the first table (sales) there are duplicate location numbers, and in the second table (locations) the location numbers are unique. However when I try to link the 2 tables I get the following error message:

Please can you help?

Thanks,

Hi - it's fixed. The left hand table's field was a number stored as text and the right hand table's field was a number stored as a number. So (in excel) I converted the right hand side table's field to number stored as text and the link now works. But I think the error message I got was incorrect as there were no duplicates (I checked using countif in excel).

How do you know the second table location numbers are unique?  This error message would indicate otherwise...

You can also change data types from within the query editor so that the source data can change without breaking your PBI solution
