I am trying to connect to an SQL server analysis services database using the 'Import data from a Multidimensional or Tabular model' option (not the 'Explore a tabular model using a live connection' option)
I am getting the following error message...
Details: "Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."
I cannot figure out what I need to install to make this work?
what version of ADOMD.Net do you have installed on your SSAS server? Can you connect to your cube using excel?
PowerBIGuy is correct. I've seen this error before, and this link has instructions to check your ADOMD.NET provider and how to get the newest version.
That got it! THanks guys
I actually had to download the sql server 2012 version, rather than the 2014 version I had installed. (version 11 from the error message is for 2012). For anyone else having the same issue, the download is here...
