Error publishing from Power BI, value cannot be null

Hi

I'm unable to publish a .pbix report to the power bi online service.

I have published a number of reports recently and I have not made changes to settings, i believe this may be a dataset issue ( i have 5 in this report), however i cannot figure it out with this error message (below).

Has any of the community had this issue before?

Your help is very apreciated! Thanks

Richie

@richiepeters

What is your data source here? How do you connect to it, import or direct query?

I found a similar issue but is not completely same as yours. It is finally resolved with following steps. You can also try with the latest Oct 2016 version of PBI Desktop to see if it helps.

=> Uninstalled all the on premise data gateway.
=> Reinstalled the On Premise data gateway.
=> If you’ve published it to Service before, remove the existing datasets from the Service

Best Regards,

Herbert

Thanks fir the help Herbert.

I have tried to do this without the gateway, basically IT are still in the process of setting that side of things up.

It is an import from sql server 2016 and Im using the october version of power bi desktop.

I now suspect this could be a internal IT issue, perhaps a restiction on upload size etc.

When searching the internet for 'uriString' it comes up in discussions about .Net, I thought that software was out of date, but then it would not explain why other reports are being uploaded successfully.

Thanks Again.

@richiepeters

You can try to import less data into PBI Desktop from the same database. If it can be published successfully, then the cause may be the restriction on upload size, or the tables not imported themselves. If possible, you can share the PBIX file to me and I’ll try to publish in my side.

Best Regards,

Herbert
