Error loading data from Sharepoint List in report with other data sources

Hello,

I am trying to load data from a SharePoint list to an existing report that already has data from Netezza and Hadoop. Each time I try to load the Sharepoint data, it loads just fine in Power Query, but when I try to apply changes, it throws an error saying "Error loading data to the model". I am able to load the data with the same url in a blank report so I'm not sure why I can't load it in my existing one.

I am sure its because of the Netezza and Hadoop tables but I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I'd really appreciate any help.

Hi @newpbiuser01 , Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum.

The issue is likely a storage mode conflict. SharePoint loads in Import mode, while Netezza or Hadoop often use DirectQuery and Power BI doesn't always support mixing these unless the sources allow composite models. In Power BI Desktop, go to Model view and check the storage mode for each table. If any are in DirectQuery, try switching them to Import. Filter large datasets in Power Query first if needed.

If you need to keep DirectQuery, ensure you're using the latest Power BI Desktop and that your connectors support composite models. Some, like Netezza via ODBC, may not. To isolate the issue, disable “Enable load” on the SharePoint query in Power Query and apply changes. If that works, re-enable and check relationships in Model view for conflicts. Also, make sure your SharePoint list URL is correct and re-authenticate with your org account.

If it still fails, export logs via File -> Export to file for troubleshooting to pinpoint the problem.

If this helped solve the issue, please consider marking it “Accept as Solution” so others with similar queries may find it more easily. If not, please share the details, always happy to help.
Thank you.

Hi @newpbiuser01  is there any message description after "Error loading data the model"? Also, are you using the Implementation method from Sharepoint list 2.0 or the 1.0?
