Error Message "Can't resolve schema '2.1.0' in 'report.json'

Hey community,

I suddently got the error message above when I want to open a.pbix file which I downloaded from PBI Service.

I do not get this error message when I use an older .pbix of the same report (about 2 weeks old).

Hi @PBILix

Are you using the latest version of PBI desktop? Try updating if not.

Hi @PBILix

That error means the PBIX you downloaded was saved with a newer report schema than your Power BI Desktop supports. Update to the latest Power BI Desktop (not Report Server) and try again. If you have more than one Desktop installed (Store, MSI, or Report Server), the file may be opening in the older app. Start the newest Power BI Desktop first, then choose File, Open, and pick the PBIX. You can also set the newest Desktop as the default app for PBIX files. A newer PBIX will not open in an older Desktop, so updating is the fix.
