Hi @Anonymous ,

Editing a cell in an Excel file that is connected to Power BI depends on where the file is stored and how it is imported or uploaded. Here are some of the possible scenarios and solutions:

  • If your Excel file is stored on OneDrive or SharePoint, you can edit the file online or in the desktop app, and the changes will be reflected in Power BI automatically or after a refresh.
  • If your Excel file is stored locally on your computer or network, you can edit the file in the desktop app, and then either publish it to Power BI or refresh the dataset in Power BI.
  • If your Excel file is uploaded to Power BI as a local workbook, you can’t edit the file within Power BI. You need to download the file, edit it locally, and then upload it again to Power BI. However, this feature is deprecated and will no longer be available after October 31, 2023.
