Drilldown and Totals don't sum up correctly

Hi Community,

I am not a very experienced PowerBi user, so I hope someone of you can help solve this puzzle.

I am calcuating the ABS ERROR between the forecast and the actual demand along various period in time.

The formula works well for the single row, but when I want to see the sum-up at the higher level the formula will not consider each of the rows, but an overall sum of the actuals and of the forecast along all the periods.

In the image is very clear. Whatever is the ABSERROR of the consensus is not the sum of the belowstanding ABSERRORs

in fact it should be over 60, not 47,789.

This happens as well with totals. The totals are not summing-up all the value in that column, but is considering to sum only what is in the formula below, so considering only the variable 'Dataset Agg' [SHIP_FROM].

The real sum is 6.85kk, this because it is not considering the SUB_DIV split, or simply the total is not summing the above values.

My formulas are:

ABS 1 = ABS('Dataset Agg'[Forecast]-'Dataset Agg'[Actuals])

ABSERR CNS = IF(HASONEVALUE('Dataset Agg'[SHIP_FROM]),[ABS 1],SUMX(VALUES('Dataset Agg'[SHIP_FROM]),[ABS 1]))

Thanks so much for your support!!!!!!

Riccardo

Hi @riccardoprade93 ,

Please try:

Measure =
var _a = ADDCOLUMNS('Dataset Agg',"A",[ABS 1])
return SUMX(_a,[A])

Final output:

Hi Jianbo,

it does work very well with the Pivots, but it does not do exactly the same that ABSERROR CONS was doing.

I can find many times some mistakes like this one below.

Thanks for trying!

It does not work. I understand the formula, I don't understnad why it should not work.

Hi @riccardoprade93 ,

Based on your description, I have created a simple sample:

vjianbolimsft_0-1659679327233.png

Please try:

ABSERR CNS = SUMX('Dataset Agg',ABS('Dataset Agg'[Forecast]-'Dataset Agg'[Actuals]))

Output:

vjianbolimsft_1-1659679407786.png

If this is not what you want, please provide me with more details about your table and your problem or share me with your pbix file after removing sensitive data.
