Do I need a dataset per parameter in Power BI Builder?

Hello, 

 

I started working on Power BI Builder some weeks ago, and I have read some articles about parameters in Power BI Builder, but I still have a question: Do I really need to create a data set per each parameter, or it is only needed when I need to create cascade parameter?

a parameter is not dependent on a dataset. the parameter can be used on mulitple queries in PowerQuery connected to the same data source.
