Hi - I was trying to make this solution from post https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Desktop/display-all-child-hierarchy-based-on-parent/m-p/61... work for a very similar situation and need a bit of help with the DAX. I have a Visual A Parent table that when a row is selected, it needs to show the exploded BOM (of lower levels) in Table B Hierachy Matrix. Currently, the Parent Item populates Matrix B but does not allow me to drill down on the children (cause its filtered on parent).
The Hiearchy table is built using the solution found in this link and works as expected, enables a M:M approach https://www.thebiccountant.com/2017/02/14/dynamically-flatten-parent-child-hierarchies-in-dax-and-po... Tried different approaches with no joy, there are some measures included with this flattened table to suppress blank nodes that may be causing some contention? The biccountant link has a downloadable pbix if you need an example to work with.
I have included the generated Hierachy table as reference in the diagram. Currently I am going down only (3) levels) as shown in example.
@alanc Sorry, having trouble following, can you post sample data as text and expected output?
Not really enough information to go on, please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882
Also, please see this post regarding How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490
The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.
