Disabled state of a button

Hi, 

I am sooooo curious as to what the disable state of a button refers to. How to you get a button to come to a disabled state?

For exemple, if someone has pushed a button, it could be disabled so that the person cannot repush it, and you can play with the fill in the disbled state to show something else.

But the the only results google gives me for disabled buttons are people craftily going around by flipping a few bookmarks and adding another button. 

But I have found NOTHING that would explain what is the use of the disabled state. In fact the only video that came close was Guy in a cube that specifically mentionned that he would skip that state while explaining buttons. it seems soooo mysterious. 

Come on spooky community, tell me what this mystery is! 😉

Hi @Sibrulotte,

In fact, this state is used to prevent the 'press' action of the button. For the button itself, it seems like you can’t directly control button to this state. I'd like to suggest you to the following link to combine bookmark to achieve dynamic setting button states.

thank you for taking the time to respond. Unfortunatly I don'T see in your response how the state becomes Disabled. 

I had already mentionned I knew the bookmark workaround. Thank you for the link still.

HI @Sibrulotte,

I found you can change the action tab on button to 'Drill through' and not apply further properties, its state will turned to the disabled.

For other settings on the format panel, they seems only effect the button style and no realy change its state.
