Direct Query COUNTBLANK Alternative.

I need to be able to Count the number of rows in a column that are NULL In Direct Query, ultimately embedded. 

COUNTBLANK function does not work with Direct Query. 

Any Ideas on a work around? I really dont want to add another column.

you can try this mesure

cnt BLANK = 
CALCULATE(
    COUNTROWS('countblank')
    ,FILTER(
        'countblank'
        ,'countblank'[amount] = BLANK()
    )
)
