Difference in Exporting CSV from Matrix in Power BI Desktop vs Power BI Service

Hi Power BI Friends,

When I export from a matrix visual in Power BI desktop, it appears as a flat CSV.

However, when I export from the online service, it has filterable columns and alternating colored rows. Also, the decimal place options don't carry over.

Any idea why there is a difference in the CSV export from the two?

Thanks,

Alex

P.S. - I also noticed that it exports all levels of the hierarchy and not just the one I am currently on. Is there a way to only export the level that you're currently viewing?

  • Hi Anonymous,

In Power BI desktop, you can only export underlying data. In Service, there are two options.

    Summarized data: the filtered data.

Underlying data: the same data the your export from Power BI desktop.

For more details, please check the online document.

    Regards,

    Frank
