Difference between Model and Power Query Relationship (Better Way)

Hi All,

Hope everyone is doing.

Regarding relationship i have doubt. i need to understand which run faster when we do the relationships at Power Query level or Model level.

In Power Query we use Merger or Append Queries

In Model we use direct relationship

Thanks,

K Raghavender Rao

@kolturra ,

If you don't need to keep two different tables, I would suggest you to merge or append tables in power query. Because if you just make relationship between two tables in your report, when you create some measure or calculate columns, dax function will do table scanning in another table. This will slow down your report performance.

Hi @kolturra

Ideally you want to do most of your transformation in Qury Editor, this should reduce the size of your Model and at times improve the performance.
