I've created a dataset and reports in version 2.82.  I am trying to share it with colleagues\customers but they are have desktop bersion 2.67, and are unable to open the reports.  Is it possible to save a dataset\report that will allow those users to access it?

This is s the error my colleague receives when trying to open a report\dataset that I saved.  We don't have admin right to our laptops so neither of us can update our version.  I need them to be able to open the document and continue developing the report\dataset.  Is it possible for me to save the report from version 2.82 so that they can open it in 2.67?

It is obvious that neither of you guys have a pro license! do you? or it would be much easier.

One last chance you could try is to look for the old version in your computer if you were lucky that the Admin did not uninstall it.

If you find it then you will have 2 options:

1- Open the Pibx file with the old version, refresh it, save it and send it to your colleagues.

2- Because the Pibx file (XXX) is already saved with the new version then XXX won't open with the old version. In that case and if you managed to save a copy of XXX that was developped with the old version then use Option 1

A last option for you would be to ask the Admin to update the Power Bi desktop versions in the computers of your colleagues, anyway one day or another he will have to do it because every month there is a new version that comes out and updated by Microsoft.

@jadd616 , Most of the time new version report will not open in old version. You can download a previous version and check at you end first.

I don't think the version has anything to do with that. The Power bi desktop will notify the users but it still can be opened.

Why don't you use Power BI service to share your reports with them?

If you and them Users don't have a Pro Power Bi License then you, yourself can share the report with them through Power bi service but not the data set. for that use Public URL sharing.
