I name my measures with long technical names so I knw what calcuation is being performed. Everytime i put them on the visual I have double click and change it to a name my users can understand. As far as I can tell there is nowhere to set a default short name for a field? Either you change the name of thefield or you have to change on every visual. Am I wrong or any way round this as quite irritiating.
Thanks
Mike

Hi @masplin
You are correct. You have to either rename once for you measure so that it auto fetch the small name.
if you dont want to display the defualt measure name then manually you have to set for each and every visuals.
I know it is quite irritating but it is what it is.
I hope I answered your question!
You should not name your measures with long technical names. You should instead use an intuitive and user friendly name. That will avoid the extra work of always renaming the DAX formulas in the visuals.
In the model view you can add a technical description for each formula if you want:
The description will appear when you are hovering over the formula
If this answers your query, please mark my reply as the solution. Thanks
